Adam Majsay

Born and raised in Sydney, Adam is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, having completed his vocal training with Robert Allman AM OBE and Ronald Maconaghie AM. Adam has sung with Sydney Chamber Choir, Sydney Philharmonia Choir, The Parson’s Affayre and Sydney Conservatorium Chorale.

Over the past decade, Adam has built a strong reputation as a choral conductor, working with both adult and school-aged choirs, including both auditioned and non-auditioned ensembles, regularly performing a diverse range of contemporary and traditional repertoire. Adam believes strongly in the power of community singing, pairing high-level musical expectations with a focus on enjoyment through collective music making.

Adam’s investment in the development of Australian choral repertoire has led to the commissioning of new choral works by composers Gordon Hamilton, Paul Jarman, Nardi Simpson, Joseph Twist and Dan Walker. Adam has previously sat on the board of Luminescence Chamber Singers, the Canberra-based virtuosic chamber vocal ensemble and served a member of the Australian National Choral Association’s National Council and NSW/ACT Chapter.

Beyond his work with choirs, Adam is a seasoned stage performer, having performed principal music theatre roles in Assassins, Into the Woods, Elegies: A Song Cycle and Songs for a New World, to name but a few. More recently, he has performed principal roles in chamber opera productions. Adam’s stage performances have featured in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival, Sydney Festival and Queer Fringe for the Sydney Fringe Festival. Adam counts more than twenty musical and dramatic productions as either musical director, director, conductor or repetiteur. Adam is passionate about music and education, working as the Head of High School at an independent school in Sydney’s east.
